Depending on where you live, the summer days can be especially hot. That makes it even harder to find the motivation to work out. Here’s how to get fit even in the dog days of summer and you can easily do so at home or while on vacation!
How to Get Fit in the Hot Summer
- Water, water water! This is so important whether you work out or not. Make sure that you are fueling and replenishing your body throughout each day by drinking plenty of water. Try limiting sugary soda and alcoholic beverages to further weight loss results and to achieve them quicker.
- Walk early or late. Get your daily walk in early in the morning or late in the evening. This will help avoid the extremely hot temps outside.
- Healthy Recipes. Summertime tends to be very busy with travel and vacations and it leaves us with even less time than usual to prepare healthy meals. Here is a great post on healthy and delicious protein shake recipes. Check out this post for amazing summertime dinner recipes that are easy to make.
- Indoor Workouts. What a time to be alive with all of the amazing indoor workout options! From free Youtube videos to apps to full-out programs, there is something for everyone to discover and start working out at home. Benefits of indoor workouts include: You can workout anywhere, climate-controlled, crush your workout in the privacy of your own home or vacation spot. There’s no waiting or fighting for machines and weights at the gym, and the list goes on!
Whether you’re new to working out or seasoned, it can be tough choosing a program. There are numerous options available these days and on all platforms. This makes it very hard to pick and choose. I have done a lot of research and also tried out a lot of these programs and products myself. Here are my favorite program recommendations.
Beachbody If you’ve not been hiding under a rock the past few years, you’ve heard of this company. Now I know, some infomercials and ads look a bit cheesy. I have seen amazing results with several of their programs. My favorite Beachbody program is mbf/mbfa- check out my results!
So with Beachbody, you pay for on-demand and have an entire workout library available to you on your devices. This makes it fun to mix things up and not get too bored. If you enjoy dance, lifting, boxing- you will find programs that suit you. They also have prenatal workouts and family workouts. As far as the products and supplements, I enjoy Shakeology but it’s not my absolute favorite protein. Beachbody Performance has a great line of products, the Recover tastes just like chocolate milk and eases muscle pain.
LadyBoss. Okay, this is where I get my favorite protein and I actually just ordered the limited-time strawberry shortcake today! This company, founded by former bodybuilder and current author, Kaelin Poulin, is geared towards helping women on their fitness journies.
From workouts and challenges to books, supplements, and swag, there is more than enough to keep you motivated with LadyBoss. Additionally, they have a very large and active Facebook group to get advice and share updates on your progress in a private and supportive community. If you’ve never tried Lady Boss Lean, I dare you to. You won’t regret it!
bodyboss. This is one of the first programs that I found years ago and actually enjoyed doing. The main program is 12 weeks and you can purchase the program for online, print, or both. I recommend both since the book was so easy to move around and have handy at all times. Once you complete the Ultimate Body program, you can move on to other programs such as Tone.
Body Boss also has an amazing nutrition bundle too if you’re in the market. Additionally, they have swag and gear too.
Metabolic Renewal. I’ve recently purchased this program and I am excited about future results. It is completely geared towards women. Also, see some amazing transformations on their Facebook group.
When it comes to getting fit (and staying fit) during summer, try working out indoors. You have so many options to choose from that offer loads of support and motivation. Say goodbye to excuses and start today. Which program are you going to try out first?
