Being a stay-at-home mom is an entire job in itself. However, if you feel that you want to achieve even more, here is a list of ways to help you to be a more productive stay-at-home mom. You can care for your kid(s) and still make time for yourself enjoying things that make you happy.

Productive Stay-at-Home Mom Tips

Earn Income at Home

Traditional work-at-home jobs typically require that you have a quiet setting and can devote your undivided attention to your job and work certain hours. That means that even if working from home, you’d still have to get childcare. Luckily, there are a lot of side gigs and hustles that you can easily do on your own time.

Crowdtap– This program is amazing and I have been a member for a couple of years now, easily making around $20+ in a week. You simply sign up and if approved, you will receive surveys that give you points. The more surveys you take, the more often it updates and gives you more surveys. Once you have 1000 points, you can trade them in for a $5+ gift card. I have tried a lot of survey sites, and Crowdtap is actually legit and you can earn those points in a few days.

This is a great site to earn some extra money for shopping or groceries. They have an entire library of gift cards to choose from. Surveys can easily be accessed on your computer or on a mobile app.

Write an e-book– Writing e-books is a great way to earn an income online. Follow this link here for a guide on how to get started. You can sell your e-book on Amazon or on your blog/website.

Start a Blog– If you enjoy writing, you may enjoy starting a blog. Just know that it will take time and work to earn a regular income, it won’t happen overnight. Check out this post for how to get started blogging. Blogging is a great way to nurture your creative side while earning money doing something that you enjoy.

Join Fiverr or Upwork- If you have certain skills such as web design, writing, graphic design (and so much more) check out these sites. You can easily earn money by accepting jobs that you qualify for and can complete them online on your own terms.

Side Hustles

I don’t consider blogging or other online jobs as side hustles as they require a lot of time and work. To be a true side hustle is something where you can make some quick money on your own time, whenever you want to. Here are a few side hustle ideas.

  • Babysitting other children in your home (care.com)
  • Pet sitting (care.com)
  • Sell your stuff online (Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, Mercari)
  • Sell your crafts and creations on Etsy
  • Online Tutoring

Other Ways to be Productive as a Stay-at-Home Mom

Online College

You can either sign up at a local college or at one of the many online colleges available and start taking classes online so that you can earn a degree. There are many programs that can be completed online and financial aid will normally cover a large portion, if not all, of your tuition. If you or your spouse is in the military or a veteran, you qualify for even more financial aid.

Find a Hobby

Learn a new language, start gardening, and teach yourself something new. The possibilities are endless to find a new hobby that you enjoy doing. If you just don’t have the time or energy because of the kids, pick a hobby that they can do too! Rock painting hide-and-seek is a fun option that will keep kids busy outside.

Listen to a Podcast

Podcasts can be very motivating and they are so easy to listen to. Just pop in an earbud hit play, and go about your day. Some great podcasts for boss moms: Boss Mom Podcast, Brilliant Business Moms, and The Mom Hour.

Find a New Book to Read

Reading is a great way to motivate yourself and to pass time. You can find a lot of free ebooks on your local library app or website.

Get on a Schedule

Start a daily schedule for the whole family so that important to-dos get done and you have more time to focus on the fun stuff.

Practice Self-Care

Not just taking a long bath or shower, but actually focusing on yourself. Do a full beauty routine. Meditate. Read a book. Take out quiet time for yourself each day. If you are overly tired and burnt out, you won’t be at your best for everyone else. If you can’t get a sitter for quiet time, find something fun to occupy the kids while you do your thing.

Ask for Help When You Need It

This is key and so many of us struggle with it. If you are tired and overwhelmed, let your partner know. Maybe they can rearrange their schedule so that you have a couple of hours all to yourself each week. If your parents or other family live nearby, reach out to them and see if they can give you a break once in a while. You don’t have to carry all of the stress and burdens by yourself all the time. Don’t feel guilty for needing help and asking for it. No one can do all the things all the time, we all need a break and deserve it.

Being a productive stay-at-home mom is totally possible with all of the options that are out there today. Get rid of the mom’s guilt and ask for help, take a break, and do something for yourself. You deserve it, mama.
