When it comes to beauty, there are so many different types of products. From shampoo and body wash to cosmetics. Most times at popular chain stores and even local grocery and department stores, products claim to be “natural” or “organic” and some are known in their industry as being the top product.
Some of the products which our own hairdressers use and recommend. However, when it comes to really examine these products, more times than not they aren’t actually natural or organic and they definitely aren’t helping you.

Let’s start with shampoo and conditioner. Many shampoos and conditioner companies claim their product will make your hair less frizzy, stop breaking, add shine etcetera, but in fact, the product is just creating a buildup on your scalp and hair. This makes your hair appear healthy and shiny, but it’s not always the case. It is actually causing more issues than it is helping. Eventually leading to breakage and other issues.
Many shampoos and conditioners contain fragrance (parfum) which can irritate those with sensitive skin. Isobutylparaben is another popular ingredient found in many shampoos, and for this reason, it can cause skin irritations and could possibly be linked to breast cancer tumors. I have very sensitive skin, so I definitely prefer products that won’t cause irritation.

Natural Cosmetics
On to the fun and nitty-gritty, cosmetics. Now keep in mind all these products I am listing aren’t the only natural and safe products out there, however, they are a few that I know work. Honest Beauty is one of my favorite natural beauty product brands. They also have a wonderful line of household and cleaning products, as well as baby products.
Cosmetics that are safe for your skin:
Honest Beauty Eyeshadow Palette
Burt’s Bees Mattifying Powder Foundation
Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Fake Out Mascara
Natural Sunscreen
Lastly
Keep in mind these are just a few of the many natural beauty products that exist today. Always check ingredients to be sure if a product truly is natural. You can also download a handy free app, Think Dirty, to take the guesswork out. You can scan items or look them up and the app will tell you how safe (or unsafe) they are.
We all deserve to have beautiful hair and skin without having to sacrifice our health. A few of my favorite natural brands before I go: are Young Living (essential oils and beauty products), The Honest Company, and Dr. Bronner’s. Remember that just because a product is labeled as natural or organic, doesn’t always mean all the ingredients are safe.
