25 Psychological Thriller Books That You Absolutely Must Read This Year

When it comes to books, nothing beats a can’t-put-down psychological thriller (in my humble opinion). I have read so many of these amazing books and I want to share a few of my favorites with you. I have personally read all 25 books on this list and I highly recommend them. Read on to find your next favorite book(s). And maybe discover a new favorite author too.

This book starts off a bit slower, but stay tuned for an amazing plot twist and an even more shocking ending.

 

The Maid: A Novel by Nita Prose
A nice, light read with a murderous twist.

 

The Best Friend by Shalini Boland
If you are looking for an addictive thriller, this book delivers.

 

The Drowning Kind by Jennifer McMahon
A spooky story that pulls you in, read this one with the lights on.

 

Don’t Go Down There by Kiersten Modglin
This book was full of the unexpected from beginning to end.

 

Don’t Let Her Stay by Nicola Sanders
Creepy for the win! This book will have you dying to know what happens next. Also, it’s not what you think!

 

The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell
I have not found a Lisa Jewell thriller book that I do not like. This is no exception, a total must-read thriller.

 

The Guest List by Lucy Foley
I discovered this thriller from Reese’s Book Club and I am so glad that I did! A great storyline with lurking mysteries will keep you glued to this book.

 

Layla by Colleen Hoover
There’s no way I can make it through this list without at least one Colleen Hoover book. She excels at her craft and Layla is one of my absolute favorite books by her. If you enjoy the paranormal, check this one out.

 

Verity by Colleen Hoover
What did I just say about Colleen? This captivating story will have you wanting to devour the book in one sitting.

 

The Half Sister by Sandie Jones
When family secrets become unearthed.

 

Hour of the Witch by Chris Bohjalian
An intense, historical thriller that is hard to put down.

 

The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse
Dark, suspenseful, and chilling. This book is another one to read with the lights on. But it’s oh-so-good.

 

The Housemaid by Freida McFadden
Another one of my favorite thriller and suspense authors, Freida delivers with this book. If you love it as much as I do, be sure to check out part two as well as her other books.

Full of emotions and thrills that will keep you hanging on every word.

 

Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty
Surprising twists and turns that will keep you hooked.

 

The Quarry Girls by Jess Lourey
True crime is told as fiction- small towns and big secrets.

 

The One by John Marrs
I recently finished this book and it’s also now a Netflix show. It was hard to get into at first because there are several main characters. However, once you get into it and their stories, you won’t want to put it down.

 

If You Tell by Gregg Olsen
The story of survival is about three sisters and their sadistic mother.

 

Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica
A great story that is full of plot twists that you can’t imagine happening.

 

Unfaithful by Natalie Barelli
You can forget getting anything done once you start this book, it’s that good.

 

The Weekend Away by Sarah Alderson
Trust no one and suspect everyone. Additionally, it is now a Netflix movie too.

 

The Girls in the Garden by Lisa Jewell
This book will keep you guessing. Furthermore, you won’t be able to put it down.

 

We Were Never Here by Andrea Bartz
A suspense lover’s dream. Undoubtedly, you’ll want to read this book nonstop to know what happens next.

You may not want to join this club, but you will definitely want to find out what is going on and why.
