10 Productive Work From Home Tips- Stay-at-Home Mom Jobs

1. Set Home Rules

If you share the home with others, especially kids, you need to lay down some ground rules. Make sure that older kids know they can’t just barge in during the time you are working. Make a sign with times you have a break or check in on them during your breaks. If you have smaller kids, you may be able to get some work done during naptime, but it’s best to have a caregiver for them so you can focus and complete all of your work on time.

2. Designate A Workspace

Set up your office so that everything is organized and in its place. This will help you to work more productively as you won’t be searching for misplaced items and you will know exactly where everything is. Try having a comfy chair to work long hours in and personalize your area with motivational pictures and things that make you happy. Family photos, pet photos, and cute stationery are all great ideas to decorate your workspace with.

3. Get Outside

Working at home the time can quickly pass by and before you know it, it’s nearly bedtime. Avoid brain fog and clear your mind by stepping outside for a few minutes each day. This will improve your overall mentality and a short walk will help your body feel better after sitting long hours indoors. There’s nothing like a breath of fresh air!

4. Take Scheduled Breaks

Make sure that you take frequent breaks, even if you need to set a timer to remember to do so. When you get into working at home it can be easy to forget about breaks, but you really should take them throughout the day. Even a short 10-minute break each hour can do wonders for you and help you to stay focused on the tasks at hand.

5. Create A Schedule- And Stick to it!

It can be easy to sleep late one day, and the next, and before you know it you’re sleeping and work habits are all over the place. It’s a good idea to designate a daily schedule and share it with friends and family. This will help others respect that you are in fact working and can’t be disturbed during these times. Less chance of others bribing you to hang out or talk when you have work to get done.

6. Avoid Digital Distractions

Keep the tv off, or have the volume on low for quiet background noise. Also, make sure that your phone and any other devices are set to silent or vibrate. This way you aren’t tempted to look at your phone throughout the day and get behind on important work tasks.

7. Use A Planner

It’s a great idea to invest in a planner so that you can keep up with your work projects. Planners can work better than phone apps since they are easy to jot down everything whenever you need it. They also don’t have to be charged and they don’t come with distractions.

8. Start Each Day Off Right

Have a nice breakfast, put on fresh clothes, and start the day with a positive outlook. Enjoy your cup of coffee while you go through e-mails and other tasks. If you work better all dolled up then go for it and put on a full face of makeup, even if it’s just for yourself.

9. Healthy Lunch

Be sure to have a nice, healthy lunch that will fuel your body with all the nutrients that it needs to keep going. Keep snacks handy as well so you can snack throughout the day, which also prevents burnout (and of course hunger). It’s also a great time to take on drinking more water, if you have to use the restroom more it’s easier at home.

10. Clock Out On Time

When your workday is over, it may be tempting to come back and do even more tasks. Avoid doing this as you need rest and a break. Enjoy time with family, call a friend, or take a relaxing bath while enjoying a good book. You won’t regret this later on down the road.

Working From Home

Working from home can be both a blessing and a curse. Make sure that you take plenty of time out for yourself and keep to your planned schedule. If you do these things, you’re on the way to successfully working at home. Be sure to call a friend or family member now and then, as working at home can become isolating at times.

Think positive about your work and realize that it is a blessing to be given the opportunity of working from home. If it’s really tough on you and unexpected that you’re working from home, remind yourself that it is temporary, try your best and things will get better with time.
